In 1971

And what a terrific show that was. Some "Chicago" tunes and the first year for Danny Boy, IIRC.

2-7 was magnificant that day.

box 5 as an adjective.

Corps member #1: How's the blue? (drink)

Corps member #2: The blue is box 5!

half valves

shoe and shako runthrough

While heading to the showers at some random school in some random Southern state you ask:

"Hey how're the showers?"

"Box 1."

*shudder*

or a ritsy private school in Pennsylvania:

"How're the showers?"

"box 5.... good pressure and temp!"

Other terms:

shako break

gush 'n go

dot book

tickbag

frack

air 'n valve

yardline crossings (crossing counts)

athletic step ( A-step, jazz run)

hauling a**

tondu, releve, develope, chasse, etc...

and the best (worst) phrase for last...

"set up the circle" :spitting:

In the latter part of the 20th century, this question was asked by the few of the many who may have had different opinions, among other things.

Yeah!! Yeah! But didja ever march the Dream?

A "Pepe'ism"....

I like getting to revive the old threads! Just found this one, and wanted to chip in a couple of terms unique to This Thing Of Ours:

Short Show. First field show in which I ever marched was a Short Show (1977 World Open prelims)

Color Pre - usually took you into Concert

Dry & Wet runthroughs

Arc it up

Ensemble rehearsal

And everybody's favorite.....Bring It In!

"Jurasic Jargon":

"Troop the Line"

Actually from the military "Saturday Parades".

At retreat the corps would line up in parade blocks, with the host corps to the viewers extreme left.

The host corps would then march in parade formation in front of the assembled competing corps, counter march and resume their place in the line up.

Scores would then be announced, and the host corps would be the

first to leave the field.

I remember this from WAAYYYYYY back in the late 1950'
