Back drop at lucas field

Recommended Posts

So i did my weekly browse at youtube (I know!) but anyways there are some vids by musicforall.org showing the sound test at lucas field, the main thing that caught my eye was the backdrop (an absolutely MASSIVE black curtain) is this just for BoA or has it been made especially for the stadium and could we see it at DCI finals in 2009?

so it sounds like there's still reverb issues which i thought was going to be addressed. i know when you have a stadium like this, there's bound to be some sound issues, but i thought i heard they were going to be working with acoustics specialists to minimize this.

overall still nice, too bad they were too stingy to put DCI there like it was supposed to be (inside sources tell me the stadium was ready to go and they just wanted to save the first event for a Colts game)

Well, when we drove by Lucas Oil on the way to finals, there were still construction workers cutting steel and cementing steps/handicap ramps on the outside. It looked very close to completion at the time, but I'm sure there were some housekeeping things that needed to be taken care of for safety reasons. So oh well, I thought IU worked at pretty well considering the circumstances, we will see how Lucas Oil works out this year.

Your source fails, since a high school football game between Noblesville HS and Fishers HS was the first event held at the Luke. That was on August 22nd, two weeks after DCI Finals were held.

The first events ever to be held at Lucas Oil Stadium occurred on August 22, 2008 and were part of the PeyBack Classic, featuring Indiana High School Football games played between Noblesville High School and Fishers High School in Game 1, followed by New Palestine High School and Whiteland Community High School in Game 2.

Darn cool show Lawrence Central's got going on there, though, from what I can hear. The acoustics work well for marching band, but I'm still waiting to see what happens when the decibels start cranking come next August. See how the stadium handles it then, because there's really nothing that can duplicate it.
