So our confirmed list includes:

Santa Clara Vanguard

Royal Crusaders

27th Lancers

General Butler Vagabonds

Gaurdsmen

Santa Clara Vanguard B corps

Argonne Rebels

Madison Scouts

I also think Crossmen were matched for awhile. It would make sense, since that's Rob Carson's home corps.

I remember discussing Santa Clara's change back to traditional grip with their drum staff in the early '80s, and was told that trad grip made sticking issues easier to see in the mirrors, which was a big factor in their decision to change back. We continued to use matched in the SCV "B" Corps until I left after the'86 season.

Add Madison to the list, at least in 1984.

Weren't Troopers also matched about then?

Brian Callahan did Guardsmen (I believe) in 1981, and I know he did Troopers not too long after that ! They most likely played matched grip if he was there at that time.

Cool-so we add the Troopers-still waiting on Crossmen verification.

Bluecoats were matched in the early '80s up until and including '84. They switched to traditional in '85.

I kind of thought so... I remember us doing a show w/Bluecoats in 84 on Rt. 666 somewhere in the "Alabama" section of Pennsylvania. I loved the nifty thing with taking off the helmets at retreat you guys did.

Add Cavaliers 1978, though most members would just as soon forget about it.

I think Argonne was the first line to play match in DCI, in the early 70's. Anyone know of a line that played match in the 60's?

Huh? I think you have your Rob's mixed up. Robbie Roberston was in Crossmen.

John

Yeah...Robbie Robinson was in Crossmen ! Rob Carson was always a West Coaster.

Robinson played extremely well, and I believe he won a DCI individuals on snare in the early 80's.

I shouldn't type when its that late in the day. Of course I did mean Robbie Robinson. Robbie Robertson is a completely different guy and played with the Frenso Ferns.

Without checking the records, because there aren't any, I think he won individuals 2 times.

Regards,

John
