brown55061
If you're taking the ENTIRE top 12 into account -- which I think you should -- then it's 1990. Hands down. Everyone, doing their thing, at (or near) the top of their game. I think the top 6 were all powerhouses in the early 90s but in the late 90's more corps were scoring higher just to break into finals so I tend to think 97 and 99 were the best years of top notch performance. Not so much my favorite shows but the caliber of playing increased dramatically in the late 90's. The 12th place corps were at nearly the same level of musicality as the winners, obviously not as clean or good but things like tougher rudiments and double/triple tonguing were more common thru all 12 finalists versus 1990 where only a handful of corps could do that. So I say: 1. 1999 2. 1997 3. 1996 4. 1992
CloudHype
I have to go with 93. When I watch that year it becomes an afternoon event. I like every corps top to bottom.
Triple Forte
In everyone's opinion what was the best year of drum corps in the 90's, All-around with the most corps playing at their very best with some of the best shows ever seen 92 The VK Shark.....doesn't get any better than that........... shostahoosier
1995... ...any of the top 4 could have won that year...and corps 5-12 were no slouch either... I thought it was an entertaining year from top to bottom
Glad To Be Hear
If I remember correctly, in 1990 -- six regionals, six different champions. When was the last time the entire top six had a LEGITIMATE shot going into finals week.

BozzlyB
I like 1997.1st - Blue Devils with possibly the cleanest show of the modern era 2nd - Cadets with arguably the most demanding show ever. 3rd - Vanguard gets back in the game after some down years. 4th - Regiment, Kristy, Spandex, and the music was pretty good too. 5th - Madison = Pirates, enough said. 6th - Crossmen upset Cavies. Clean guard. 7th - Cavies play Firebird. Underrated and often overlooked show. Glassmen broke back into finals with the first of three "Gold" shows. Blue Knights played Ben Hur and had a killer drum line. Bluecoats had a ridiculous tenor solo. God help me Edited January 10, 2009 by BozzlyB
