JamMan
"I believe in no microphones" I'm bugged by people who don't read the original post before replying to a thread.
MikeD
People who are anxious for drum corps to become an anything goes, America's Got Talent, montage of any and every performance genre that can fit on a football field, placing no value on any definitive aspects of drum corps and the things that make it unique and wonderful. Yep, that really bugs me... Yes, that bugs me too...I wonder why you quoted me to make that comment.
brassgrl
The cadets using dialog in their show. Come on now people its drum corps!!
brassgrl
Just a side: I wish the title of this thread had been "You know what really grinds my gears?" Agreed
perc2100
Yeah...posting one's opinions (especially unpopular opinions)...doesn't that just kill 'ya? It's almost as annoying as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, etc. People posting opinions in a public forum....HOW DARE THEY!! Add poor reading comprehension to the list. To clarify for those who don't actually read posts, what I said was: Forgot one other thing that bugs me: people who know they have unpopular opinions in a forum, and then feel free to stir the pot with their opinions. I'm all for debates in the right place, but it bugs the hell out of me when people take any ol' opportunity to stir the pot with the 'locals.' salad315
wait... you're a cadets hopeful? As in a Gino Cipriani run hornline? And you're worried about blue devil's overwhelming trumpets? Not that I don't love the way the Cadets play. But I'd say they are often way less balanced than BD is. I dont think Gino hornlines' trumpets are too loud, I just think they sound kind of crass at times. In 2007, the baris were ridiculous, and they usually get a good mello sound. BigDale
Drill for the sake of drill OR music written to the drill OR drill that takes a great sounding hornline and makes them sound less than stellar. Dangerous drill moves that cause people to crash. Marching 5 to the 5 drill steps at 2 step intervals. Having cymbal lines jump through drill (nice one Gordon!) of the horns. Poor field placement. Blind drill moves (no Dean, I do not trust the mellophones to make their spots--they haven't yet, so why should they now?). Being experimented with because your staff saw some other corps do something and they want to guinea pig on you. Oh, and now for the coup des gras: No Melodic Content!!! Ed Boxer
Ok, what bugs me: Wide people in bleacher seating - if your rear end takes up two seats, buy two tickets, cause you're forcing the people next to you to give up half of their seat.
