I noticed Crossmen are the top of this poll so far, but in today's Drum Corps jumping 7 spots would be pretty hard to do. There's so much talent across all 22 corps.

The Crossmen, however have jumped 6 spots twice since inception.

79 = 13th

80 = 8th

- and -

89 = 12th

90 = 7th

But your predictions may be right if you go all the way back to the beginning when the the Crossmen placed 24th in 1975 and 11th in 1977. Which is a 14 spot jump by their 3rd year in existence. Who knows where they would have placed in 1976 though. Remember, this will be their third year in Texas so some may say it's kind of like they've started over again.

Who knows.... I guess anything's possible.

No Hype though!!

Can't wait for June to get here!!

why so much blue stars hype? i never understood it. i guess they are just the corps everyone loves to love.

but if it was about a 7spot jump it would be easiest for troopers, pac crest, and academy to do it.

The fact that they were a total powerhouse in the 70s, were almost non-existant at one point in the 80's, and are now in the top 8 is pretty cool I think. Everyone like to root for an underdog

Of course, if you look at who has historically made the biggest one-year jump among those corps still out there, you'd have to give it hands-down to Spirit:

1977 - 23rd place (in Spirit's first year)

1978 - 6th place, a jump of 17 spots.

I LOVE SPIRIT!!!

i guess if you understood their history that makes sense. i also thing some people just follow blindly. "hey these guys are getting a lot of response, i should clap too." im not bashing on them but they dont appeal to me. their show this year to me wasn't very exciting no matter how clean it was. id rather have a little dirt and have it be fun than super clean and boring.

but if you're going to root for an underdog, why not get to the shows early stay out of the lots and keep to the stands and watch pioneer, pac, mandarins, etc?

Crossmen are going to blow some folks away with their show this year...They will place 8th but can't see them going any higher.
