ouooga
Had a discussion in another forum and this came up..... What if Santa Clara Vanguard won the world championship in 1988 instead of the Madison Scouts? Then, what if all of SCV's shows from 1990 through the present had each been bumped up a year earlier (since they wouldn't have done Phantom of the Opera in 89)? Assume that every other corps still did exactly what they did every other year. How would this whole situation have affected drum corps overall? Would Phantom Regiment have won a championship in 89? Would Madison Scouts still exist today? Would any of SCV's shows in the 90s and 2000's have placed higher if they had been performed a year earlier? Could Scheherazade have beaten The Phenomenon of Cool? Could Inventions for a New Millennium have beaten Stonehenge? It's random, but it's also not June yet....thoughts? badmellomf
SCV would have won hands down if they had introduced synthesizers back then...

Willie85
I suppose that would throw off all those tie scores from the 90's... Don't see how it would effect Madison, even hypothetically. They'd always have '75 and they'd still be Madison -- then as now, guys went to the Madison Scouts because they're the Madison Scouts. Bruckner8
This is like "If the previous batter hadn't struck out, that would've been a 3-run homer." So dumb, but fun to ponder! I'll bite... The one thing I think is most certain is that SCV would not have played Phantom of the Opera in 1989.

HockeyDad
OK, I know this one: IF SCV had won in '88...........Phantom would have won in '89.
