Won't be in any drum corps pit, but a neat thing for Broadway pits. I often just use a regular hi-hat stand with big crashes on it when playing musicals, but this is a neat take on it. I would have to see it in person to see how realistic it truly is. I wish the video would show someone playing crashes in a row on it, like you usually do in the Star Spangled Banner. And also, I'd need to see how it does with small crashes still controlled by foot. Neat concept, but the video doesn't really sell me on it.

I don't know. It'd by good for Broadway pits (and maybe corps pits), but there's a technique for orchestral crash cymbals that can't really be recreated with a machine.
