Octavarium Posted June 16, 2009 Share Posted June 16, 2009 I didn't get the chance to see the preview, but I've been going to rehearsals a few times the past few weeks. They're in the full runthrough every night phase right now, and I've gotten to see them run the show two times now. It's really coming along... I don't know what else to say, except it's likely going to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest show in DCI this year, the brass is generally playing really well, and the percussion still has some rough patches, but they have a ton of notes, and the important parts of the show are really starting to lock. Aussiehatswithfeathers Posted June 16, 2009 Share Posted June 16, 2009 I'm glad to hear good happenings in the Carolinas I'm just curious if they will end up putting the green drum heads on the basses, in the fan net vid they the 1,2,3,4 basses had green heads the 5th had a rose bowl head....anyway if anyone knows about this or has a clear look at the uniform change would be kewl, are the shako's gonna be sporting a new look too? lukenorris Posted June 16, 2009 Share Posted June 16, 2009 (edited) To answer the green bass drum head question. I have inside knowledge on the bass drum heads. Remo has different lines of drum heads. They make their lower lines in colors. Their top of the line head crown uses does not come in colors. The sound with the lower line head was soo different they decided to forgo the lower quality "green" head a go with all white. The reason they used the rose bowl head was because they ran out of the larger size and needed it for the recording.
