Mayflower today announced that it will be returning to compete at WGI finals in 2010. After a 5 year absence Mayflower will once again compete at the Winter Guard International finals in the Independent World Class. Michael Shapiro will once again design the programme for Europe’s only ever IW finalist.

This will be Mayflower’s 6th visit to WGI and will mark its first visit since 2005. Mayflower is only the 2nd group outside of North America to make WGI World Class finals, placing 11th in the Independent World class in 2003.

In his 10th year as designer for Mayflower, Michael Shapiro is already in talks with the UK staff on the programme for 2010. The guard will be accepting members from both the UK and the US, and Michael is planning on spending extended periods of time with the guard both before and during the season.

Barry Davis, Director of Mayflower commented, ‘We have been building towards our return to WGI for some years and for 95% of the UK membership it will be their first time competing at WGI. Every time we have visited Dayton we have had a wonderful experience, and can’t wait to return in 2010. We are excited by the unique plans we have in place for a truly multi-national experience for all members involved in the 2010 group.’
