Obi-Wan
The Optimists Alumni are pleased to announce that they are hosting the Legends of Drum Corps show in Oshawa Ontario on Saturday August 29th, 2009. This marks the first return of an evening of drum corps entertainment to the Oshawa area in almost twenty years. The show starts at 7:00 pm and features Mighty St. Joes Alumni Corps, Preston Scout House Alumni Band, United Alumni Senior Drum and Bugle Corps and of course the Optimists Alumni Drum Corps (with other corps to be announced). There is a special pre-show performance at 6:30 pm presenting C.A.D.R.E. (Canada's award winning rudimental drum line) so get there early. Not only is this a golden opportunity to relive the excitement of an important part of drum corp's history but you'll also experience old time pricing with general admission tickets available for only $10 each (no taxes) and children 12 and under admitted free. Parking is immediately adjacent to the stadium and also free of charge. Tickets are available at the gate before the show or through the following link, http://www.optimists-alumni.org/index.htm We hope to see you there. JOHNNY_A
???? no Ontario Jr corps ??? why???? I would imagine it would be to difficult to get all the U.S. members back for 1 performance from Dutch and Sudbury (Blue Saints) is a bout 6 hours from oshawa. Grenadier eh
Good show sounds like a great concept and it is good to keep active as much as possible. Grenadiers are in Reading PA. that weekend for our last competition before finals. It is something we would be interested in the future. Best of Luck! Obi-Wan
JUST ONE DAY LEFT TO THE ONLY CANADIAN ALUMNI SHOW THIS SUMMER!!!!! Well the summer has just flown by and here we are already on the eve of The Optimists Alumni's first the Legends of Drum Corps show in Oshawa tomorrow night. Let's bring you up to date on all the "improvements" we've made over the last month. We now have an all Canadian line-up of performers with the addition of The Preston Scout House Alumni Band's Silver Leaves Brass Ensemble to open our show. The balance of the evening's program remains as previously announced. If you enjoyed the traditional full corps retreats then you're not going to be disappointed, and as an added bonus their will be a mass performance of all the members on the field of "Never Walk Alone". For those of you that enjoy a friendly wager there will be a fifty / fifty draw with odds no doubt much better than lotteries (and also tax free). Finally we've added an after show "party" to allow some meaningful face to face time with old friends and aquaintances with beverages (naturally!). The party is at the Harmony United Church, 15 Harmony Road N, Oshawa, ON L1G 6K8. If you don't have a GPS then ask one of the Optimists and we'll help you get there. Mike Lang Optimists Alumni PS We know the weather forecast is less than ideal for outdoor drum corps appearances tomorrow night but there is a chance it will ease up and hopefully stop by later afternoon. Don't let this discourage your attendance in any way. The corps performing have been rehearsing in this kind of weather consistently since last spring and none of us are any shorter for the exposure. We will do everything possible to make sure you get a show so see you there. Mike
melligene
Aside from "OPTI"....if you haven't seen C.A.D.R.E. ( saw them at St. Joe's Classic about two years ago).......WOW !!! What a show. Especially if you're a percustionist. I'm a horn player but, ....MY wrists hurt when they were done. .....AND......these aren't KIDS Folks. I think they alone are worth the price of admission.
