tympmom
the big suprise for me is empire. gonna be tough to make all that up. that's what happens when you start your season so late. empire is very enjoyable this year I like their choice but i think judges are put back by them as they are not like they used to be but I like this years selection. TomPeashey
and I must apologize to those in dcp land... I had been told it was no longer the American Legion Nationals... well I was told wrong... the national vice commander was there and presented Bucs with the orange flag... bugleboy1048
I was at show(seats on the 50). Here is an old timers brief revue.. Bush...nice book very challenging..small horn line with a bunch of holes (not sure, but that's what it looked like)...the people on the field really impressed me with their musicianship and showmanship...MBI...WOW IMHO they should have scored a bit higher..what a balance(maybe 2 balance in blue corps..oops I am rambling)...the soloist can play and play and I am not sure where the top of his range is and it was still a great sound..not forced and well you get it, he was GREAT..Loved the book and drill and guard complimented the musical dynamics nicely..They could really move up at finals..Empire..nice show, but just a little bit off on the usual Pizazz they have been noted for(could be some inexperience in key spots) still they belonged in top 6...Bucs...I was thrilled to hear Requem(sorry I can't spell) I played in Reading in 1974 with the mello line. I don't remember us doing it at that up tempo, but I LIKE IT! All I can say is Storky Sr was right..best senior(oops all age) corps I have ever seen..no one will catch them unless the bus makes a wrong turn somewhere.. Hurcs and Cabs are so close and both shows are very enjoyable..one difference I thought was Cabs soloist had an off night and that may have hurt overall score some...I really would not have wanted to be a judge as all the corps are obviously starting to hit the Aug push. As for Bucs penalty I didn't notice anything except one quad player walking thru show..not playing or feigning playing, just his arms at his side...don't know why...just what I saw..and finally Cabs alumni..as usual the old school show is fun to see and they sure added to the moment at the ceremony to honor Doc Sebastianelli(I hope that's spelled right) overall one of the best shows I have seen in along time(made me think of the old Dream the corps were that ON)
