The history of the Westshoremen

Recommended Posts

I think Mike, Bruce, Frank Magel and I would be very down to do Meat for Sale. I know Dave R. is down with it. Write whatever groovy thing you want for the percussion feature, as long as it grooves and kicks in for the final slam, it's all good.

I can teach the lyrics for those who do not know the ones for Meat for Sale later. They're not DCA nor DCP approved. I take credit, and they DID make the corps laugh out of control at rehearsal. a win win thing.

82 was a learning thing. Success beyond wildest expectations, Judges telling us we were fine when we had things we could do to enhance and improve, but I think we didn't think we needed to do it if we weren't being told to do it. Again, learning curve. Certain things out of the envelope because of new drill staging and placement... the "triplets" in Icarus as Frank Dorrite explained them to Wayne Downey and the judges., something we'd call a pretty serious frikkin' tear in today's parlance.

In NHRA talk, we had the reaction time down and the bottom gear and burnout/launch down perfectly. Sun had the top end clutch locked up perfectly and the top speed through the traps and we had one of the cylinders start to burn up about 20 yards from the finish. Something they almost had the season before. They knew how to finish, we needed to learn that skill.

AS much as I liked leg line (and playing tenors) (well heck and marching timpani ) ... I LOVED playing in the pit!

Something they almost had did have at '81 Finals but the judges...one judge in particular... just didn't see it that way. They knew how to finish, we needed to learn that skill.

Fixed.

Jeff has a good point here.

I liked the tune when it was on the field because of the brass work... especially the lower brass.

But it is pretty slow-paced for the alumni corps' purposes.

Love for Sale has a beat, and you can dance to it.
