lindap
The comedy exhibition guards were a lot of fun...I often marched as the drummer for "Bunyan's Bums"...made up of of parents and instructors from Majestics and later Excalibur. We sort of poked fun at some of the other guards we would compete against. We had a mom who made an exact copy of the Rochester Wavettes guard captain uniform who barked out commands like "hey diddle diddle right up the middle...look out, here comes the moon!" and "Hippity-Hop, colour guard stop" for a halt command. One guard dad dressed as a baby in a diaper and bonnet. The kids loved it and the crowd enjoyed it too. The only negative comment I got was about my "Drum Corps Sucks" t-shirt I would wear....go figure! Thank you, Bruce. I had the privilege and pleasure of working with Ron for a few months winter of 75. May he rest in peace ... don’t sell yourself short; your drumming style added to the entertainment value of winter guard. Did you know there’s a winter percussion competition since 1993? go figure :) btw, I’m speculating that on that shirt you may have worn an ‘I’m a Drum Corps Nut’ button. Wish I’d bought one back then
