LancerLegend
From the March 26 1969 DCN. From Duane C. So very sad to read this - but an honorable tribute. I wonder how many young lives were cut short in Vietnam that were related to drum corps? I know over 58,000 were KIA or listed as MIA. baja
From the March 26 1969 DCN. From Duane C. This picture reminded me of this passage from "A Tale of Two Cities" It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

JimF-LowBari
Show was day after DCI Finals and a "crowd response" (long story) contest. Having Muchachos there made it VERY interesting..... and a great show BTW... "One last chance for the corps to present their shows without having to worry about being judged." Translation: "One last chance for gas money on the way home". Also a great way for Westshore to make some badly needed money.

I didn't get to see this show - I suspect Hawthorne blew the stands down after the DQ after prelims. Does anyone remember their performance at this non-judged show?
