DCPI-13 Here We Go!

Recommended Posts

3 new events get set to debut on Monday. In the south, several southern corps make their return to the continental US after an exciting trip to the Caribbean. Their destination- the aptly-named Winter Park FL area, just outside Orlando

Out west, corps will start their swing up to the Pacific northwest with a stop in Redding CA

Meanwhile, a pair of midwest shows in Frankfort IL and South Lyon MI give east and midwest corps a chance to intermingle in some early season cross-division competition.

The Star Organization got off to a great start on Saturday night with wins in Puerto Rico for Star of Jupiter (World) and Cross (Class A). The warm PR air felt good and both corps did some sightseeing yesterday. Now both corps are traveling to what I hear is a cold Orlando for tonight's show in Winter Park. I am very familiar with Winter Park (grew up in nearby Maitland) but what Stadium are we competing at??

Star of Hawaii placed 2nd in Stanford, CA kicking off its normal West Coast run. They will be off tonight rehearsing at Enterprise High School in Redding. Then on to Grant Pass for Tuesday night show.

The Avengers will be hosting the Winter Park Show today and we will be competing at Showalter Field which is owned by the city and used mainly by Winter Park High School (my alma mater) the stadium in the photo is actually West Orange High School which is on the other side of Orlando.

Thanks! Looked like West Orange but was not sure.

We know where Showalter Field is.

The young season has started out very well for The Fastener Group.

"The Stud Bolts" have Silver Medals in their first two shows and both "The Screws" and "The Bolts" took the Gold both nights. It was especially rewarding having success in the enemy territory of Columbus Ohio. (Go Blue!)

Now for the closest thing to a home show that we have. We'll give it our all for the South Lyon show tonight, a mere 10 miles from home.

At the onset of DCP Season XIII, NEOMAO has had some minor successes...as well as serious disappointments.

On the plus side, Silver Streak (world class) has started their second season somewhat stronger than the first, which is an encouraging sign. At the January 8 show in Massilon, OH they placed 7th with a score of 64.535. At their next competition in Columbus, OH they did not fare quite as well placementwise, making 11th; they managed to increase their score to 65.505, almost a full point improvement. The members and staff have worked very hard, and we're hoping to build upon the successes of our first season with this year's production entitled Cyborg: The Union of Man and Machine, featuring all original music.

On the down side, Bronze Star (open class) did not fare very well in their first two competitons. At their first show in Massilon, OH they managed to score only 58.170, putting them in last place for that show. At the Columbus show the next day, not only were they last again but their score actually fell to 57.005. Each of those two shows, Bronze Star finished nearly 3 points behind the next highest corps. Obviously, we have some serious work to do to get our scores out of the gutter. This year's production is entitled Scenes from the Emerald City, featuring music from the movie "The Wizard of Oz" and the musical "Wicked."

The staff and members of NEOMAO look forward to continued growth, and wish all competitors the best of luck.

Texas Zephyrs started off this season much better than last season, dusting off a little rust from Everywhere West for the first weekend before kicking off the Mass tour tomorrow night. With luck, we should be able to keep on top of our game much better than we did during the early season last year (even if the corps director is kicking off his second semester of college at the same time ).

Judges definitely got a little tougher tonight! Kadence got murdered in the music caption.

Down south, corps gear up for a major performance as the SunArts organization hosts their home show at Daytona's Municipal Stadium

Finally, western corps move out of California and into the green state of Oregon at Grant Pass HS's "cozy" stadium, presented by OYPA:
