star87man
I scanned back through the thread. I didn't see anything about Crown's drums? Wonder if they'll go with gold hardware to complement the horns?

Not really excited. Last year's drums were ugly and they shouldn't be getting new drums till next year. Yamaha usually has a 2 year plan unless it's a special year (like Scouts and Cavies 25 yr anniversary with Yamaha). Bye the way - This is the Madison Scouts 30 yr anniversary with Yamaha. I would expect something special. Crown doesn't rate new drums every year unless they found a school to buy last year's line, or had them refinished. I highly doubt they are going to come out this year with the green drums again.... I would guess there will be some gold on their drums. I also highly doubt the cavaliers will have these same drums next year. It looks like things are a changin with yamaha's 2 year deals. Just my opinion but I'm not sure Crown would rate an exception to the rule. They might have their drums refinished (on their own bank account) through Jiwi like the Cavies did last year. Probably the only way they will have a new look in the battery.
Metheny
Sorry, I love...LOVE...Phantom, but that drumline better tighten up. They look like a HS line with their drums all in different angles...tenors in an upward tilt. ....go the extra mile and LOOK THE BLOODY PART!!!!!! Phantom Phan
jonz311
when phantom switched to dynasty, they were able to tune them like they did when they played pearl and they sounded good when standing in front of them. but when they got on the field, the projection just disappeared, especially from the quads. even when they are completely exposed it's very difficult to hear them. this was never a problem when they played pearl. crown has had new drums every year since they switched to yamaha. i don't expect this year to be any different. bluecoats are using the same drums they used last year.
