Penalties

Recommended Posts

can you show up late to work with no ramifications?

Exactly. Also, without penalty, Pioneer could show up late to every show so that they could go on last. Have to maintain order REGARDLESS of whether or not they can't "control traffic". May not seem "fair", but then again, when is life fair. Personal responsibility is important. It's no more fair for a late corps to affect the show, other corps, show sponsor, etc.

I can just see it now. A corps is running late for a show, so a director or tour manager decides to tell a driver to push the envelope and 50 kids wind up as blood stains on a highway in sometown anystate. That's not being punctual, it's being stupid.

time is money for 1 and corps prepare to go on a certain time. when a corps shows up late it is not fair to say to the next corps HURRY UP YOURE ON NEXT. or the show runs later because someone was late. Do things happen YES ....BE PREPARED... to be early is to be on time.. was taught that a long time agao. Also these rules were put in place because its also easy to be late to go on in a better time slot... who controls that? RULES!!!!!!

I think penalties are ridiculous. There is no place for them in today's drumcorps. (outside of using a clarinet or something)

Corps are given specific times to be at the gate and OTL times. Corps use that time to schedule their travel time and pre-show rehearsal. The groups sponsoring the show schedule things to start the show at the best possible time and finish before the stadium has to be closed/sound ordinances go into effect.

The schedule is IMPORTANT. The penalty is meaningless, except for Major Shows, and therefore it should be enforced.

There's already been a thread concerning this matter. And it was later found that DCI took the penalty off. Go look at the recap. Check your stuff before you make a post that had everything to do with one that's already been made...and oh by the way got removed because the penalty wasn't true.

Hey Genius, this isn't a thread about the BK penalty, it is a discussion about penalties in general. Check your stuff before you make a post that is irrelevant, inaccurate, and completely unnecessary.... and oh by the way got PWNED by someone who took the time to read the thread title.

which corps director are you seeing that is putting the kids in danger to get to the show on time instead of getting a meaningless penalty?

If Mandarins (corps that usually goes on early; chosen at random) decided they wanted to go on last at every show, would it be ok if they just showed up at 9pm every night?
