BigW
...."There's not a complete phrase of music in _______ brass book"..... LOL! The sad thing is that there may well be several corps you could throw that quote at and it might stick....
supersop
ok Crown....4th in Brass (which is a total crock) 6th in percussion.....but 2nd in music ensemble???????? Perfectly possible when the distance from 4th to 1st is 0.3 in Brass Perfectly possible when the distance from 6th to 2nd is 1.1 in percussion The Ensemble score is well earned and deserved. Now average it all together and you get 4th in total music ..... only 0.6 out of 1st place.

mobrien
Pardon my stupidity.... What is "INT"? A total hot dog corps.
tja273
Not surprised at the placecments for semis.Very surprised at two color guard judges two nights in a row giving BD's guard a "perfect" score!! C'mon now.,.. (Stated previously -- BD's guard is nice and kickin it up a notch, but not perfect). Also -- got off the phone 10 mins ago with a good friend attending his 3rd finals week. This friend has a masters degree in brass peformance (trumpet) from Eastman School of Music. Did not ask of I could share his name -- so won't, but here's a direct quote (corps name being omitted so other posters in this forum can guess!!) ...."There's not a complete phrase of music in _______ brass book"..... Well, my sister's friend's cousin's neighbor's maid's uncle was there, too, and disagrees.

Their brass was somewhere around 4th, but it was their Ensemble score that kept them in contention (and ultimately helped them win). To WAAAY oversimplify it, you can play REALLY BAD but still REALLY TOGETHER.
