Update on Injured Crown member:

The entire Crown family wishes Ryan Brannan (mellophone player) a speedy recovery from the fractured tibia of the left leg he suffered during the finals competition. As of 2am this morning Ryan is resting comfortably while awaiting surgery first thing in the morning. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Can anyone explain how this happened? Was it a result of a fall?

I am no authority on this .. but over the course of the night I've read it was a compound fracture. I've read that He had been having troubles and nursing a previous injury throughout the season and could barely walk this week at times. I've read it was a fall going into the company front (at breakneck speed). I do not know if the leg just gave out or any details of the sort, but I would imagine this to be the case. It's a very high vocabulary move getting into the front.

It sounded as if though he tried to get off the field under his own power and might have really hurt himself in doing so. It was reported that a staff member took him on their back and carried him off the field.

All our thoughts are with him.

Those of us who marched will remember being told that if you trip, fall or bump into somebody, just forget about it and do your best to catch up.

That's what he was trying to do.

It was horrible, a real gut wrenching moment.
