thirdcoast
There have been several Madison drill writers...Doug Tholo wrote 84-87,Todd Ryan wrote 88 and 89, but left for Star before the 89 tour, so was not there to do re-writes or cleaning...if he had been we might have climbed a spot or two. Jeff Schultz wrote 90-92 (probably the most improved writer in that time) Mike Voves wrote 93, Mike Loeffelholz wrote through the rest of the 90s with co-writing from Bill Zeier and Dave Koelz. madalumni
That is some list right there, didnt Cris Harmon write in the 90s also? Yes Jason, I think you're right. He may have written in 98 and/or 99. Next time I talk to Scott I'll ask him. Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving Brother.

madalumni
Jeff Schultz 2nd City of Angles is a masterpiece . I agree. His writing was very exciting, both from an effect standpoint, and from an asthetic standpoint as well. There were many great "pictures" in that drill. I was sad that he didn't stay on staff longer. elmhurstmusiced
I marched 1997-1999 and don't recall Chris writing any drill. Doesn't mean he wasn't involved in the process, but 97 was all Mike, 98 was part BZ, part Mike, same with 1999.
mrshowfan
I too am in agreement with elmhurstmusiced. Not saying that it didnt happen though, knowing him, he may have done a couple drill pages (dont know if many recall that there was a skull and crossbones formation in early season). Perhaps Harmon did something in '96? Either way, Chris was my fav. instructor. Nothing like those old school Madison guys teaching you. 97-99 = best summers of my life. Chris was indeed a great instructor and a great guy. He's yet another instructor who I wish would have stayed involved in the activity! If I remember correctly, '96 was the year that Harmon was on Brass staff, not visual. That would have made basics easier if Ivan weren't there.
