Music and Arts Loyalty & Support Program

Recommended Posts

Okay, so we heard you here LOUD AND CLEAR on DCP and FB about all of the FB posts, DCP articles, emails, texts, and phone calls BOMBARDING you with requests for your vote for various social networking grant campaigns.

Here is Carolina Crown's solution:

http://carolinacrown.org/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=485:crownloyalty-program&catid=19:carolina-crown

As this gains momentum, we will work with other corps when we are "going after" similar grants like the last Facebook/Chase Community Giving Campaign and others.

What do you think?

Can we get your support... and loyalty?

I need more information on this. I am not sure what the following means:

As this gains momentum, we will work with other corps when we are "going after" similar grants like the last Facebook/Chase Community Giving Campaign and others.

Does this mean you will send email blasts to your lists for other corps? That you will help other corps make their own lists out of the goodness of your heart? That you will charge other corps to make a list for them? That you will charge other corps to use your email list? That you are trying to create a list for all of DCI, so you want supporters of all corps? When multiple corps are competing for the same money, how can fans of other corps that gave you their info be sure they will get accurate information?

Also, I don't see how you can depict this solution as solving the problem you presented. The problem is that people are getting hit over the head from multiple angles. The solution you provided says that all communication from Crown will only come one time. You have no control over emails/texts/facebook posts from other entities. If we sign up, will YEA stop emailing us?

Also, I don't really believe that Carolina Crown would not update their facebook page requesting votes, as this idea claims, if it was in the running for money. No one would give up that marketing opportunity. I also bet the new email list would be used to advertise shows and other Crown-sponsored events, thus increasing the email traffic you receive from a service that is supposed to do the opposite.

There has already been a push to push individual services to the corps level, thus benefiting only 1 corps instead of DCI:

Slide 26

Future Vision 7 - Business Relationships

Corps and their related organizations will have the ability, and first choice, to provide services required by DCI.

- Official Education Provider

- Official Ticketing Agency

- Office Marching Music Event Manager

- Official Merchandise Seller and Provider

the above slide is from the G7 presentation.

My worry is that Carolina Crown will attempt to become the official social network marketing arm of DCI, and will have control over which corps is promoted and which corps are not promoted.

Perhaps some of my concerns could be addressed.

Uhhhhhhhh... No!

For example; The first Chase program that Crown, Phantom Regiment, Colts, Cavaliers and the other corps that were involved in, (if this program were in place then) we would ask the people on that list to vote for all of the corps involved. Be clearer, more concise, and organized like the groups in the last Chase program that gained nearly 18,000 votes in less than 12 hours. If other corps fans wanted to sign up and harness the voting power, we would hope that they would do that, but that decision would be ultimately up to them.

No "Top Secret," backroom, world domination conspiracy, just a good way to help more non-profits in our activity benefit the next time something like this comes up.

Wouldn't it be great if some people on DCP didn't always jump to the conspiracy theory?

I guess the good news is that with replies like this, at least this thread will continue on for sometime.

Flame on.

I'm not on FB but followed the recent Chase program. What a wild ride. I sent an email to 12 drum corps folks asking them to pass along the info. The Chase program is generous and I'm thankful for their generosity. I like consistent fund raising. We do ours spring and fall, the annuals. However, every 2 years over the last 25 we'd have casinos. All hands on deck! Technology may have speeded up the age old 'welcome to the annual' and 'here's an opportunity, now let's do it!'. Keep up the good work and keep looking for good ideas. Hang in there

I think this G8 nonsense is terrible for the activity but wow...

What do you think?

Can we get your support... and loyalty?

Well, here's a question: What kind of "support & loyalty" has Crown shown to the rest of DCI, when they band together with just 7 other corps to call themselves a "Tour of Champions", and exclude the rest of the 15 World Class Corps to keep all the money for themselves?

How can you ask fans for "support & loyalty" when you act like that?

And by the way, what has Crown done to earn a role in a "Tour of Champions"? They have never won a single Championship!

Look forward to your answer....

:-)

Crown has been a supporter of all of drum corps since day one. We are also supporters of music and arts education, not only in the Charlotte area, but wherever we can help across the county.

As for the Tour of Champion events, the criteria for those shows was to be a Top 8 (not 7) drum corps, which we are.

We hope you will take part in this program we are promoting, but if you don't the choice is yours.
