OICMR corps
Bringing up Xmen and PC, I can see both having VASTLY better shows this year and then getting the same placements because of that great group in front of them. It's really a shame that their improvement "might" not be rewarded in the standings. I am already a fan of both shows!
bluecoats88
I don't think we should count out Pacific Crest you guys, they scored a 67.4, only 6.5 under Vanguard. We could have a sleeper, not necessarily for 12th, but for about that area around 15th place. They might not compete much, but they could surprise some people. So here's how I see it. Boston Spirit Glassmen Troopers Colts Crossmen Academy Pacific Crest? yeah my spread calculations has PC sitting in 18th about 2 points behind Crossmen, but that could change quickly as they made a significant jump in relation to PR & SCV the other day. DrillmanSop06
The problem is, this guy WON'T stop. Go to his profile and read his posting history. The majority of his posts are centered around tearing down the Scouts. He has no other M.O. Sure, he says it's not his "purpose" but his actions speak much louder than his disclaimer. I don't care WHO it is. I'm an old drum corps alum who loves the entire activity. When one person posts over and over and over and over again with the purpose of tearing down another drum corps, and then ADMITS that he's soar about that corps beating the corps he is affiliated with, it urks me. Yeah, you're right. This thread is not about that. ONE person mentioned the Scouts being above Blue Stars in the CONTEXT of how the "pack for finals" could be expanded and ole "boybugle" took it upon himself to make an issue out of it by saying "here we go again". If he had not posted that and just left it alone, this discussion would not have blown up this way. It's ridiculous. STOP HATING! Boybugle. And don't tell me you "don't hate" because I won't believe you. Like I said, your actions speak louder than your disclaimer. And that's the story of how I added the Blue Stars' bus driver to the ignore list! It's crazy to see the spreads between those corps...White knuckles all season...C'mon, Red Team! madalumni
For what it's worth I do like Madison this season and last as well!! I find though that moreso than any other corps if you state an opinion about them you're going straight to hades and the Madtown alumni and fans escort you there! It's ok to be passionate but really? Fans of such a classy organization should act like the members do, Professional! Just saying, exit my soapbox now:):):)! Wes P Not all of us are like that. In fact, I would say most are not. My attitude is to be "cautiously" optomistic. I'm very hopeful for what the Scouts could pull off this year. I even feel like they have a show that isn't likely to peak too early, simply because I know how Mason and company operate. They will be adding things as the season progresses. But, in this day and age, things are so competative, that even moving up a couple of spots within the top 12 is a monumental achievement. Could they place as high as 5th or 6th this year? Anything is possible. But I don't want to set my expectations so high that I'm dissappointed if they don't achieve them. I feel like if they can move up anywhere in the top 8, I will be extatic. Anything more than that would be a super bonus! Yet, no matter where they end up, they have already won the hearts of the fans and that's where the Scouts are truly relevant again. As far as jumping on people for having an even slightly critical opinion, come on guys, weren't we taught to have a thicker skin in these matters? People like what they like and see things how they see them. It's not personal.

azul
Glad someone beat me to PC scoring a 67 the other night. Granted Mandarins weren't there but Pacific Crest's show has a lot more potential to move up because there is a lot of serious demand in that product. Plus, they just finished the show yesterday and are refining it more so today. Hope they can pop a 70 tomorrow in Oceanside. I can still see them catching a few of the corps ahead of them. They may not make finals, but I can see them in the 14-16 range at the highest. Spirit is definitely a corps everyone should be watching out for judging by their recent success thus far. Should be a battle from 10th-18th place since there is a definite gap between Boston and the corps ahead of them.
wesleyrp
What a mature and well said response +100 to you madalumni!! I respect Cop and his opinion and take no ill will from his remarks, I just was making reference to the finals groupings more than about Madison in my original statement. Having seen BK take down SCV for the first time in corps history I both understand exitement and exhilaration that accompanies such a feat. I mean no disrespect to Madison as they're off to a great start, just saying I don't believe BK will be fighting for their finalist lives in August just like Madison, BStars, BAC or SCV. To me I feel only one spot is going to be up for grabs and that's the 12th spot. But I'm have no fortune teller and I know that everyone has improved just like my beloved BK! Thanks for the response, trust me I'm still a Madison fan, they got me excited to be in drum corps in the first place !!:):)(Madison 88) Wes P BK 97
Iplaytimpani
Just keep counting out the Glassmen folks. Every year, everyone seems to do it. And that's fine, because every year, they are in finals. They're consistent. They've done this. They're going to do it again. Yes right now looking at the numbers they're ranked behind a few other corps. But some of them (Spirit, Troopers) they haven't lost to head to head yet. And they've been gone for a few of these big scoring days that seemed to have happened in the past few days. The kids from Toledo are ready for the fight. They know it's coming.

Well said. In order to knock a perennial Top 12 Corps ( and thats what Glassmen have become over the last 7 years ), one can't expect such a Corps to just roll over and give it up to some Corps. You've got to knock them out. Glassmen can't be expected to go quietly into the night and give up their hard earned Top 12 status that gets you into the Big Dance on Finals Night, gets your ticket punched for the DVD's, revenues, inclusion into the Fan Network video archives forever, etc and so forth. In the last 14 years, ( since '97 ) the Glassmen have missed the TOP 12 once. They don't plan on making it #2 this year, I'd imagine. Iplaytimpani
And I apologize in advance that my first comment on this topic didn't have the words Madison or Blue Stars in it.
