DrumCorpsFan27
Why are corps using recorded singing when human voice has been legal for years? If they are going to use singing, why not use a singer from the corps?
Trombean
I'm guessing it's because a pre-recorded professional singer would sound better.
MN DCI Fan
I would guess it's to limit exposure to error. If the voice is recorded, that's one less thing that can be affected by fatigue, sickness, etc. The recorded voice is going to be the same every time. Plus, most of the time I've heard singing in drum corps, it's been somewhere between terrible and decent, but never great. Use a recorded voice and you can get exactly what you want, evey time. That's my guess, at least.
BRASSO
Why are corps using recorded singing when human voice has been legal for years? If they are going to use singing, why not use a singer from the corps? Good question. For example, Boston decided to use the voices of the Corps members themselves in their pre show. contrajedi8
Do you really expect a corps to waste a roster spot on a vocalist when you can just as easily push a button and get the same (and probably better) effect?
DrumCorpsFan27
I think that they should be required to use a member if they are going to use the human voice. Otherwise, why not just pre-record the whole show and "lip sync" the whole thing?
N.E. Brigand
I agree.

Cardman
I for one, am glad that they are using recorded voice instead of having the members sing. As much as I hate most of the recorded samples, they aren't quite as bad as when corps were using the members to talk/sing into mics. Well, except for Cavies' show this year with all that nature boy crap. I hate those samples so much. It just sticks out like a sore thumb in contrast to the music of the show (and yes, I know they are playing the song they sample.) I love the rest of the show, but would love this show ten times as much if they dumped the sampled garbage. Not gonna happen, but just sayin...I'm betting Cavies win it all this year, and that is just fine with me, samples or not.
actucker
Sometimes its because they are going for a specific sound. I think the Cavaliers show this year is a good example. There are about a million recordings of "Nature Boy", but they wanted that specific recording to capture the color and mood that they wanted. Sometimes its the specific voice, and sometimes its the ambience behind it.
