2011 DCI Finals Thread!

Recommended Posts

Regiment horn line is much improved over last year. Great projection of sound, while sections like the mellos display great technique and subtlety.

The music IS a tough sell. Lots of discord and stabs which are hard to connect to emotionally. Vanguard DOES sell it, though.

Mike Ferlazzo is a Drum Corps World and DCI Field Pass correspondant, by the way.

well if you can't connect to the idea of hell and wanting out, then you have no emotion. everything in this world is not walt disney and cotton candy.

I'm with Kevin here. I like that style of music, but many don't and it is harder to reach those people. Vanguard makes it work and I am glad they continue to do so. :worthy:

We're talking the music itself, not the show concept.

Next on the field is the Phantom Regiment from Rockford, Illinois. Their 2011 program is entitled "Juliet" and consists of:

East of Eden

Requiem

Requiem

A Time for Us (Love Theme from Romeo & Juliet)

Romeo & Juliet

Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral (from Lohengrin)

My favorite show after Madison's. Such emotion!

Love theme from Romeo and Juliet. Great backfield playing by the horns.

Juliet guard uniforms are one of the best of 2011, in my opinion.

Yeah, mellos! Way to wail that note!
