2011 Drum Corps Associates World Championships Finals Competition

Recommended Posts

Solo guard member has one of those telescope eye piece thingies. Not a prop I've seen used on the field before.

Huge sound from the corps on the final note! Welcome to DCA Finals, TBT!

Next on the field is the Kilties from Racine, Wisconsin. Their 2011 program is entitled "Three Faces of Drum Corps" and consists of:

Auld Lang Syne

Interstellar Suite

Brigadoon intro as the horns are on the 50, then they turn front, break into an X formation, do some high mark time, then move into a K formation.

Horns full of #### and vinegar to start the show. Now building into the classic Kilties' Auld Lang Syne moment which we all love.

Excellent start to the show, Kilties. Another corps that is #### happy to be here tonight.

Nice quiet moment to start MacArthur Park, great contrast to the end of ALS, as well as to the first big hit of MacArthur.

Lovely tone from the baritone duet during the middle section of MacArthur. Now the full corps takes up the melody.

Drum solo. Drums interspersed with sabers. Horns now back in, building into the reprise of the main MacArthur Park melody.

Nice soprano soloist on the famous Maynard solo at the end of the song. Big company front by the horns. Soloist goes one handed for the last screech note. Crowd goes two handed for the clapping.

And now for the Exploration part of the show: Interstellar Suite. Raise your hand if you ever thought Kilties would play this.

I marched in the Black Watch in the 70's and the corps was fashioned after the Kilities.
