Flipping the bird at the DCI staff after the scores were announced, as I recall.

I think he might be asking what the penalty was for doing that.

I believe Boston was a charter member of DCI in the beginning, did it take them the longest, out of that group, to finally make the Top 12 in 1999?

BAC was a charter member of DCI, but had a rough early season in 1972. They lost equipment in a fire, forcing the corps off the road. At one time down to 19 members (for a variety of reasons) and struggling against weaker locals corps, BAC opted not to take part in the first DCI Championships in 1972, choosing the CYO Nationals in Boston instead.

Here is the top 12 of the Top 12 (most years in finals):

1. Santa Clara 40

2. Cavaliers 38

2. Blue Devils 38

2. Phantom Regiment 38

5. Madison Scouts 36

6. Cadets 34

7. Bluecoats 24

8. Crossmen 22

9. Spirit 18

10. Blue Knights 17

11. Carolina Crown 16

11. Glassmen 16

You are counting any and all DCI Division levels "Finals" in these number of years in " Finals ". ( which is fine of course ) If we counted just " World Class Division Finals " only for example, Boston would be on this list ( and ahead of some Corps you've listed here... just sayin'. )

Please add your own. It's not necessary to make this Q&A. What sort of trivia facts would be cool for all to know?

(And please don't mind if others, such as myself, file your trivia away for possible referencing in the future.)

This is something we can hopefully keep adding to for a long time.

Enjoy!

Some questions ( and the answers ) should be a birthright that all new marchers should be expected to know as part of the history and tradition of the activity. ( like in MLB, who had the most career home runs, most HR's in a single season, or had the highest batting average in a complete single season, or most consecutive games with a hit... or in our other favorite sports and so forth )

Here are just a couple in Drum Corps ( I've kept it to just DCI years here ):

1) What is the highest DCI score ever received in DCI World Class Competition ? When was it and what Corps attained it ?

2) What Corps has won the most DCI World Titles, and how many ?

( as of 2011)

3) Who was the first DCI Crowned World Class Champion, and what year was it, and what location did DCI have their first DCI Championships ?

4) What year did DCI officially alter the judging system and go from the previous " tick system " ( done for decdades ) to the current " build up system " we have in place today ?

5) Name one person that was once afiliated with your Corps in some capacity that has been elected into the DCI Hall of Fame and tell us one good thing you and others should know about him or her.

We'll have answers provided to the 1-4 questions pretty quickly, so after that, if somebody wants to chime in with # 5 that would be great... ie, Corps, and the DCI legend. These people are, ( or were ) giants in this activity. We march today( or teach.. or follow ) because of the trails they blazed. Tell us the Corps, the legend, and 1 thing why we should remember about him or her.

as for question 5...

A better question is why is our friend reliable Steve Rondinaro not in their Hall of Fame?

New Question:

1. What was the first TV Broadcast of a DCI CHAMPIONSHIP? What year? What City?

2. Who was the TV Color Commentator?
