PrfctTimeOfDay
Has anyone heard any updates about this? It's getting to that time where I need to start making deposits on transportation and housing. I don't want to pay on a place in Dayton for Wednesday and Thursday if we'll be in Cinci on Thursday. If you can't get an answer you might want to book somewhere in the middle....like Springboro (closer to Dayton) or West Chester (closer to Cincy) West Chester/Liberty Twp is where the IKEA and all the outlets are at. ..and Touchdown Jesus 'was' just north of that...god rest his burned out soul. I'd probably avoid booking in Middletown or Franklin though it's probably the most center between the cities. You could fly into Dayton or Cincinnati/NKY and either would probably meet your needs, though I think Dayton might be cheaper. But if you fly into Cincy, you'll get to experience 'The Cut in the Hill' on your way into Ohio...which is pretty awesome or dangerous--depending on how you look at it. The Cincy airport is actually in Northern Kentucky (as there was no room to build in Cincy) but it's only about an hour from Dayton....and about 30 minutes from West Chester and 45 from Springboro. If you fly into Dayton...Springboro is about 30 min and West Chester about 45 min. Edited November 30, 2011 by PrfctTimeOfDay

ATXguard
Just got this in an email: WGI began to consider using Cintas two years ago when the Dayton public schools altered their spring break to no longer coincide with our world championships. Most of you know that prelim contests were sometimes held at high schools but with the new dates for spring break, these sites can now only host a show after school hours. With the scheduling considerations for the number of guards attending our events, this was no longer an option. This change has indirectly forced us to move towards what is our main priority: a championship experience in venues that are worthy of our performers. The main question that some are asking is which classes will be performing at Cintas Center. The world championship schedule is always fluid until entries close on February 15. However, we have enough of an idea of how the event will lay out at this time to tentatively announce the classes that will be performing at Cintas Center: Thursday, April 12 – Scholastic A Prelims and Scholastic Open prelims (50% of each) Friday, April 13 – Independent A Semi-finals and Independent Open Semi-Finals Even with the additional travel, we feel the positive outweigh the negative. First, this will continue giving the A & Open classes equal contest venues for competition. It would be patently unfair to have half of the SA Class at an arena with an optimal viewing situation and have the other half at Convention Center. The sites are simply not comparable to one another. In conversations with judges, this became a concern once the decision was made that all World guard performances would be at UD Arena. We feel this seemed the most appropriate approach to keep the integrity of each prelim contest. This also means that no class would have to travel to Cincinnati more than once.

ATXguard
it just amazing that wgi can't make everyone happy. I don't think that's their role, nor should it be! However, the main concern that the IA guard will have is -- if we perform semifinals in Cincinnati, and finals in Dayton (at least 45 minutes away), that leaves very little time for the bubble- place guards (10-15) to attend retreat, hear final scores, then do the math to figure out if they made finals and if so what time they need to be ready to perform, then get out of the arena and back to UD to perform in finals, which last year started about an hour and a half after semifinals was finally done. That is, unless Scholastic A performs first in finals, followed by IA later in the evening (since SA prelims take place in the Dayton area). For open guards it isn't as much of an issue, since they perform finals the following day.
