What are the typical tuition rates for Open Class corps

Recommended Posts

Last year Colt Cadets cost $675 for the season (Tuition + uniform). We are kind of unique because kids live at home or with host families during the week between shows, and we stay pretty close to Dubuque most of the summer. Overnight trips typically include 4th of July in the Chicago area, a couple days to swing to Des Moines/Minneapolis/Wisconsin/Kansas City, a couple 2-day trips for Midwest shows, and a full week for finals. Here is the link for the 2011 info, 2012 for the Colt Cadets will get going in late January. http://www.colts.org/cadets/cadets.cfm

Lots of our Colt Cadet members will attend Colts try-out camps in the winter for the experience and feedback, and a good percent of the Colts and Colts staff started as Colt Cadets. Colt info for try-outs can be found here: http://www.colts.org/news/news.cfm?news_id=575

Thank you for this information. That is very affordable.

Also last year part time housing was $200 and full time housing was $400. My son was in part time housing and we figured our total expenditure was about $1,200 to $1,300 (this includes gas to and from Sunday camps and to and from part time housing).

So I might have to add $200 - $400 to this total for an out of town member. Thank you for your help with this.

We live in Cedar Rapids which is about a 75-90 minute drive from Dubuque. A 60 minute drive was considered "in town." Members from Chicago, St Louis, Kansas City were considered eligible for full time housing.

Oregon Crusaders tuition fees range between $1,800 and $2,000 depending on section. This includes everything except transportation to and from camps. We do pick up members at the airport or train station depending on how they arrive. All audition fees and camp fees are applied to their tuition once a potential member is awarded a position/contract. For more information, please go to the OC website or call the corps director.

And I assume these fees include a trip to Open Class Finals?

The Stentors charge 850$. That include audition, camp, tour, food, ect.

The only things not include are the marching shoes at 30$.

If you come from outside and need housing during the summer (June 22 to August 12), you will live in a corps member family witch usualy charge 10$/day to feed you. Base on 2011, if you join the corps on June 22, you will sleep with your "family" for about 15 days. We will be travelling for the reminder of your summer.

The corps offer a 400$ discount (per member) if a family member drive or cook on tour for at least 10 days. There is no deduction if you help 9 days. Nor a 800$ if mom and dad both help for 10 days. 1 members = 400$ if an adult volunteer for 10 days or more.

It is a french environment witch provide a very different experience than anywhere else! However, all the staff speak english and many members can "socialise" in that language too.

Oregon Crusaders (OC) starts their all days in 2012 on June 15th. The tour fees include all transportation from when you arrive on June 15th until you return from DCI finals in Indy.(Some members fly home at their own expense from Indianapolis.) There may be 1 or 2 days in between the end of 1st tour and the beginning of 2nd all days, but normally, anyone who lives farther away just stays at a local members house. In 2011, we only had 1 day between. This summer should be more or less the same.

OC will compete at Open Class finals in Michigan City (Assuming the competition is located there again) and in Indianapolis if the same format (Quarter finals open to all world and open class corps) is retained from 2011. Last year, OC made Semi finals (placing 22nd) on the Friday competition.
