Latrobe's Finest
Shenandoah Sound is proud to announce its 2012 field show: Promising Skies, based on the Robert W. Smith composition of the same name. Promising Skies takes the listener on a musical journey through New Orleans, Louisiana before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The show features New Orleans-inspired jazz and a lush ballad depicting the danger of the storm and courageous recovery of the city after the storm. The corps is also excited to announce that Robert W. Smith will be writing the brass book for the corps. Robert W. Smith needs no introduction-he is a world-renowned composer and veteran of the drum corps activity who has written and instructed Suncoast Sound, Magic of Orlando, and the Madison Scouts among other top DCI corps. Returning staff members include caption heads T.J. Agee (brass), Heather Schmidt (color guard), and David Salisbury (percussion). In addition, brass and visual technician Keyo Wilson will be returning to the corps for his second year. Shenandoah Sound is under the direction of Sean Peck. Dmlkmen
Fantastic news guys. Wow! Robert W. Smith's music or arrangements in drum corps are some of my personal favorites. Great storytelling in the music- Suncoast, Magic, Cadets 89, Madison last year..and now your take. Looking forward to this show. And as always, thanks for being Virginia's corps. shenandoahsound
We are definitely excited about Mr. Smith working with our corps this year. We are as equally excited to announce that Vic Kulinski will be writing the percussion book as well. We had a very large turnout of percussionists at our open house and look forward to building that portion of our program.
