You know, when I was a rookie from the Knight Raiders and Rich was an age out vet, I would have NEVER thought that Rich Kleinman had a soft and senstitive side. If I had suggested it, I think he would have beaten me up.

Touching story Rich, but I gotta set the record straight on one little detail.

Drum Corps from that point on was an interesting topic in our house, but Mom and Dad always stayed neutral, and did what most parents would do in that case, cheer for BOTH sides! In '75, SCV ended up in 2nd, and we (Blue Devils) in 3rd (we had beat SCV all year long), so no "blood" had been spilled.........yet. :P

I think maybe you are confusing your memory of 1976 with that of 1975. I went to fromthepressbox.com and unless his data is incomplete, including prelims and finals performances Blue Devils came out ahead of SCV a total of 4 times and SCV came out ahead of BD a total of 7 times.

Just keepin' it real bro.... just keepin' it real. B)

Brother Russell,

We won ALOT of the early (circuit) shows. I distinctly remember SCV turning the tide towards the mid-point of the season.

Let's take this discussion via PM, if you would like, so the "spirit" of why this thread is here remains. :)

Rich is right. 75' is the year that really put BD "on the map". With that said, the topic reminds me of people like Ted Williams and Carl Yaztremski. Two of the best players who ever stepped on a baseball diamond and never won a World Series ring, and this coming from a Yankee fan. I'm sure that Drum Corps has many similiar examples in it's storied history. :)
