For those who forgot that Roman Blenski was on the board of DCI and was seen to be one of the people who would save DCI from the "horrible" people in the G7 corps.  He did little to prove them right, both then and now.

yup. A lot's changed.

Like, there are only two people from 2012 who are still on the Board, and for the first time in DCI's history, a non-corps representative is the President.

There'll be bigger changes coming fairly soon, I'd imagine. Not because the individual Board members aren't good people, but because the model of a necessarily self-interested BOD for DCI is an outmoded concept in this day and age. There should be a business and operations oriented Board who works with the ED and his/her team to push the events and oversee that the corps are vigilant on legal obligations and member-safety, and another board who focuses on competition rules. Those are two completely different areas of concern, and corps directors/exec directors at the corps are better suited for providing guidance on rules than they are on growing DCI into a much bigger operation from a revenues standpoint.

The current independent board members are out numbered by corps directors. This is a problem since they directors are the barriers to progress.

The easy fix is to get the current BoD members to accept a new structure, one that will seek out new BoD members for their business/NP/marketing savvy and still give the current BoD members (corps reps) a seat at the table to vote on proposals.

Patience is warranted and is served with a hot bag of Pio news (among others to come).

i'd love to be in the room when it's presented to remove power from the corps

I think you'd be surprised how much acceptance has already been voiced from the Top-xx.

Acceptance of what?  Not of ceding power.  Only passing the ripe turd of having to deal with all of the negative press.

I think corps are seeing advantages on their own by having well comprised boards for their organizations.  It is not a stretch to see the advantage being also appropriate for the activity as a whole.

If that were actually true, they'd not agree to any ceding of power or control at all.

They system now in place protects SCV from the stink now emanating from WI (not to suggest SCV doesn't, or does, have its own stink.  Only that the negative press has been mostly contained to the corps involved and DCI in the mistaken belief that it has the power (currently) to do much of anything at the individual corps level.
