Alumni Spectacular at DCA 2012

Recommended Posts

Got enough Green corps to choose from.... Lancers, Opti, St Joes, Reilly... sheesh..

Good news is I plan to be there. Bad news is it will be from the stands. Taking a year off to get myself back in shape from dealing with family health issues last year. I didn't have any problems in 2011 but just worn out and fatter than I should be. Man can I pick the year not to play

Hmmm... that would give me more time to find something (old) for I&E....

If I can get my hands on a valve-rotor French horn, maybe we could do a duet.

"The Washed-Up Old Guys."

Then again, maybe not.

Fran, whaddaya want? I got plenty to loan ya. Both Olds models, cuppla Getzens and Ludwig Classics, a Holton 361, a Westshore 2-horizontal piston Getzen, a Peate with piston-actuated rotor.

(If ya don't need no rotor, I got some older ones)

So the Westshore horns were Getzens? Cool, when I joined Keystone Kavaliers (started by ex-WSM-BSers when they disbanded) we had 2 horizontal valve Tenor Baris. To show how little I knew at the time I never even took a picture.. .let alone try to snag the horn itself. Then when KK merged with the "new" WSM the Baris had (very) used piston-slides... Oy!!!!

Fran, I have a pair of single valve Tenor Baris and a single valve Bass Bari in the "before my time" pile. And some sheet music from 1930 that is a hoot. HornsUp has seen my oldest one and if I play, it'll be that one.

Unless BigW comes up with something....

Thanks for the offer!

I'll let you all know if I decide to give this a go.

Odds are it won't happen. Haven't played a French horn or any brass instrument in 30 years (with one exception)... so I'm not sure this would be good for anyone.

On the other hand... since I live near Annapolis, I know many of the good "escape routes" if I do decide to play and people start throwing things at me. :w00t:

I can get out of town in a hurry.
