I rarely enter this fold, but what the heck...

My thoughts depend a lot on corps that I think have (or may have) the best balance among their parts. Kidsgrove is a wildcard, to be sure.

1. A Corps in blue

2. A Corps in blue

3. Empire Statesmen

4. C2

5. Hurricanes

6. Caballeros

7. Kidsgrove

8. Renegades

9. CV

10. Fusion Core

11. Kilties

12. Thunder

13. Bush

In any case, I would LOVE IT if one or more of the mid-range corps really stepped up the game and came out firin' on all cylinders!

EDIT -I have to say though, that if the Renegades rely upon their true renegade ideal, then they can break through the paradigm exhibited by the Hurricanes and Caballeros and slip into the top spots. Over the last few years I had a feeling that the Renegades felt, well...beaten. When I was still active with Minnesota Brass several years ago, many of us thought that the first non-Northeast corps to win DCA would be them instead of us. But I saw a glimmer of the old Renegades last season. They could still break into the top echelon by listening to their own voice and being truly renegadetinous.

Not totally removed from reality but very unlikely it will happen in this order. Empire behind Cabs and Hurricanes? Not likely.

But I guess anything is possible.

I think Cabs will be substantially better this year than they have been. Having hear the brass line and the book, and knowing a little about what they have planned, they should be a very pleasant surprise. I'd certainly have them in the second tier, along with Statesmen and C2, ahead of Hurcs (but behind MBI and Reading). They could be on the verge of the top tier, if they get all of their ducks in a row by Wildwood.

I also think Tampa Bay Thunder will surprise a lot of folks for the second year in a row. I suspect they will come to Annapolis much cleaner than they were last year. They have the design and talent, so once they figure out how to clean on a DCA schedule, they will move up quickly.
