snare solo

If I get what you're asking, it's how to mentally "build" a solo?

Think of it as any other instrument - a solo has a beginning, a middle, and an ending - you can start softly/simply, build into another sound portrait or concept in the middle, and finish off with a bang, or you can start with a "bang" then work into a different idea/transition in the middle, and end softly - depending on what you are trying to convey, and depending on your time limit for the solo - a minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever!

I like to think of solos as "painting a musical picture" or even "telling a story" about how you feel about the instrument, or how you feel about yourself!

Sometimes writing down (in words) what you want to do can help, get a notepad and brainstorm some ideas in your head, then try and translate it into notes and a theme.

Hopefully this makes sense - and hope it helps! Good luck to you!
