Corps Apparel/Accessory Traditions

Recommended Posts

Not WC, however Spartans get a necklace with a Spartan head, and two red beads for their first year. A pair of black beads each year after, and silver beads for their age out year. If you teach then you put white beads on as well. A fair amount of us have also gotten ink.

BD wears their previous years rings on the outside of their gloves during performances.

SCV keeps their star

PC also now gets a pendant that they put on a necklace. Age outs get the heart as mentioned before.

Bluecoats-Blue shoestring after first show, 1 penny for every year marched. If you march 5 years with bloo, you get a nickel. Also, lots of tattoos

BK-Dog tags but don't know if it's everyone or just ageouts.

Cascades get a "go-en" (a five yen coin) for each year they march. The coin represents destiny (different people from different places destined to come together to form one unit)

Spirit members wear a delta for each year in the corps, since it's their corps logo, and I believe there was some kind of sponsorship by Delta Airlines at some point

Spirit never had any sponsorship from Delta. It's one of Spirit's urban myths, along with cracking the glass in the Pressbox.

Yes, the Delta has been Spirit's logo since the beginning.

It's an abstract "A" for Atlanta and was originally created by the staff at the Atlanta TV station (WXIA) that first sponsored Spirit.

The Deltas that everyone now wears were originally created by the cymbal line back in the day. They were cut from cracked cymbals.

The modern Deltas are made to look somewhat like the old brass ones (since the cymbal companies now recycle cracked cymbals) by a Spirit Alumnus.

Deltas are presented to Members, Staff, and Volunteers (who tour) in a Delta Ceremony each season.

They are laser-etched on the back with the year and position with the Corps, so "Member" Deltas are quite unique.

Or at least that's how I remember it...

Phantom started the dog tag tradition back in 2002.

We were very loud when we walked around that summer (until lots of people finally got the rubber covers to go around them to keep them from clinging).

You were issued 2 identical tags, then 1 was left on the field after retreat.

Blue Stars gets a necklace which includes a coin with a whole drilled in it (can't remember where the coins are from). Each year they get a colored bead to add to it; blue, white and red (for age-out).
