nightBEAT 2012

Recommended Posts

Crown usually does terribly at NightBEAT, so I think this means the members are at a whole 'nother level of seriousness this year. All I know is that both years I marched, NightBEAT was notorious as the show we always bombed at.

What a great show tonight by all corps! I have to say, to those saying BD "probably had an off show" or Crown "pulled one out"...I felt the exact opposite. I am a Crown alumnus, and I was BLOWN AWAY by the Blue Devils tonight. They are a fantastic drum corps. The only drum corps that has a chance of beating them is Crown, and Crown will need to clean up a lot in order to pull it off, because BD has such a wonderfully complex show, in a different way than Crown's is. From where I was, Crown still seemed very dirty. I honestly thought BD would beat them by the same margin as last night. Either way, we all have a LOT to look forward to in Indy! Here's to the rest of a fantastic season!

Bluecoats have a good start time. Let's see how the VE judge scores them tonight. She is typically hard and low on the Bluecoats, from what I have seen.

Marie Czapinski's score difference between SCV as a lone judge, in fact, was well more that enough to put them behind SCV... hmm...

it's really sad, IMO, that some judges seem to almost have a predictable bias.

I don't know. I feel like it was witchcraft. One could easily mistake it for alien technology, but come on, let's be realistic here. tongue.gif

witchcraft is far too modern an invention for pyramids. monty python and the holy grail was released in 1975 ! wow -- i'm just flabbergasted.

I'm sorry that much of a point swing IN ONE NIGHT between 1-2 and 7-8 is ludicrous. Not saying that I like one set of scores better than the other but how is that possible?

Because we have different judges judging a different performance under different conditions? And I don't think you can discount the effect of having to fit in only eight corps instead of 22.

Do you think if the judges from yesterday judged tonight that the captions would be this different. I am mainly talkin about percussion(not one placement is the same as the night before) I understand different panel and consistency of shows. If you pay attention to brass scores BD and CC are the only ones close to scores they got the night before and eveyon else was .5 to 1 point lower in brass.
