Finals Judging Panel

Recommended Posts

Since we're all currently in the process of comparing Prelims to Semi's scoring and deciphering the recaps line by line ... here is the Finals panel.

How do you think things will differ if the corps do nothing differently than they did tonight? How do you see captions playing out and will it affect any placements overall?

Crown has done better than I expected with both visual panels (down .75 from the 5 visual judges on Thur, .7 tonight). Saturday is definitely going to be the toughest visual panel of the week for them.

Crown has done worse than I expected with both music panels (down .2 from the 5 music judges on Thur, .05 tonight). Saturday should be more or less the same.

So, I predict Crown takes the silver second with about a 1.0 spread to BD.

Regiment beat Crown in only 1 of 20 subcaptions tonight (3 of 20 on Thursday), so probably not much chance of them moving up further.

Vanguard over Cadets in 7 of 20 subcaptions (8 of 20 on Thursday), so that is maybe a more plausible move. The outcome there probably has a lot to do with percussion, as the THur/Fri judges saw that matchup very differently.

If BD keeps the changes they did tonight in percussion I think they will win the Fred. They took a couple things out that were really cool but too risky.

I remember the old days when you could win guard, brass and or perc and win the show. Now it's all GE. BD has adapted to every change that has been thrown at them. I think Crown could win tomorrow but barely. Who knows. I still think BD should win though they have the total package. Crown is going to be a monster next year!

Those who know the story behind "Judge X" would call this the biggest understatement in the history of DCI. lol
