2012 Drum Corps International World Class Championships

Tempo slows down and the low brass backs up a nice baritone solo. Now a micced mello soloist plays, the mic giving the solo an echo effect.

I'm betting Crossmen are absolutely on fire tonight, they've got to be beyond pumped!

I'm hearing a few more high notes in the trumpets than normal, so yes. :D

Percussion feature, very aggressive. Now building into the second feature of the drum line in this piece. This is where the horns start running willy nilly. Very thunderous from the percussion. As they finish, the horns all collapse to the ground.

Unison note in the mellos, then joined by the rest of the low brass. Nice space chord effect.

Corps forms a company front and is now belting out the music. Quick decrescendo as a baritone duet takes over. Horns come back in and build to a final chord. Nice penultimate chord before hand, building the tension before resolving.

Something you don't see every day: Snare line playing on the marching cymbals. This has Pat Metheny written all over it.

After another big moment, we get a quick piano interlude before the rest of the percussion joins in. Mellos on a great melody. Such a great groove and you can tell the corps is fully into this performance.

Trumpet quartet and another huge tension chord as the corps holds off building into their signature Maltese cross formation. Once they hit it, the crowd goes nuts.

Final solo of the show. As the last chord plays backfield, a trumpet soloist squeals out a high note. The guard collapses in an arc, each in front of one of the black human cutout props as if THEY were the shadows.

THAT is how you start Finals, people.
