Popular Post danielray
So, first of all, let me just say that the Fan Network rocks. Being able to pull up anything on demand and check it out or see live shows... well worth the subscription. Anyway, just interesting to see a lot of dinos on here complaining about things these days, when much of what they complain about today is stuff that has been around for ages. It was really the 80's and early 90's that were the most radical in terms of change in drum corps. Those complaining about props and costume changes seem to have a very selective memory and might want to check out SCV 87. Those complaining about out there color guard uniforms and chop/bop music need to remember Suncoast Sound 88. Those complaining about dancers out there need to check out Cadets 87. Those complaining about no shako's or jackets need to watch Blue Devils 92. Those complaining about singing need to go back and watch Cadets 84. Those complaining about about mashing up tunes seem to have forgotten Cadets 89. Point is ... I remember those already extinct complaining about all those things above in my day, how those things killed drum corps. This is no different than the current generation of old timers complaining about the current state of the activity. Drum corps has always changed, will always change... a younger generation will dig the #### out of it... while an older generation will nonsensically complain about it. This is the cycle. There is no crisis here. The sky is not falling. This is nothing new. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.... Edited August 26, 2012 by danielray
Popular Post Michael Boo
I don't disagree with your factual statements, Daniel...because I know they're true. But you do have a charmingly sweet way of convincing others to rapturously embrace you and affectionately give you a love noogie.

Michael Boo
You mean to say I'm kind of a dick? No...not at all. I mean to say that you're part of the color that makes this forum so continually interesting. (Well, maybe I did...just a little bit. But, if so, it was meant with love.)
KeithHall
You said it, not any of us! BTW Dino's??? Come on! Before you marched (you did right?) many of us and others before us helped change drum corps to what it evolved to in the 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's and 2010's. They didn't realize it but it happened. No need to call us names but if it makes you feel good....go to Annapolis next weekend and yell "Hey Dino's to members of the Cabs, Bucs, Statesmen, etc. See what you get. I am sure it will be a verbal lesson that you would learn from. 40 years ago it may have been physical. Try it, you may learn something! You mean to say I'm kind of a dick?
supersop
Not sure I agree with the Chop Bop of Suncoast 88 .... I'm pretty sure that's how the tunes went man :P But yes ... my era of DCI killed drum corps ... of the 70's and prior .... and I still haven't really seen or heard anything new until this year. Mic effects. Other than that .. you're right. Same as it ever was. They march, they play, the strive for perfection and 1 hornline this year played as loud as a G bugle line ... first time I've said that since 1999. Other than that .......... carry on. Popular Post skywhopper
So let me get this straight... you're complaining on an Internet message board about the fact that people complain on Internet message boards?

Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.... Well that was a nice stereotypical caricature of the " dinos ". The fact of the matter is, it wasn't " the dinos " tweeting from the shows to their friends in Assisted Living facilities, and nursing homes on the shows from Corps this year. My guess, the tweets were primarily from the young non dinos. And their tweets were mostly the same things we hear from the " dinos " regarding the shows. The Corps shows that were the biggest hit this year with " the tweeters " at the shows were basically the throwback shows. The Corps shows that did not reach " the dinos " were pretty much the shows that did not reach the show young " tweeters" either.. I see liittle to no division at all on age demographics regarding what fans like or don't like in Corps shows. How do we knows this ? Because all one has to do is go back and look at the tweets stored on DCP from the shows this season. BD got way too many negative tweets from a lot of young tweeters that would make a sailor blush. So I wouldn't blame the dinos for some of the criticisms. Young tweeters had equal if not MORE criticisms.. and more harsh ones it seemed to me too. The most liked show this year from my observations with the young tweeters was the Jersey Surf show... a throwback show paying tribute to a Corps from the 70's. It wasn't the Blue Devils DCI Champion's creative and innovative show that the young tweeters were going bonkers over this season, thats for sure.
