Best APDs 1980s

My first experience with drum corps was 1987 or so, and because I was 14, it is all a bit fuzzy. What I really remember was 1988 and the Madison Scouts show at finals (which I saw on PBS). It blew me away and hooked me for life. So I have a very full library of music from then on. What I do not have is music prior to that. I am specifically looking for APDs from the 1980s (before 1988). If there is something you know of before the 80s that I just have to listen to, let me know!

What are your top 10 shows of the 1980s, music-wise? I want to build my library up some more!

Honestly ... from 82 on up .. it's most of what's available. They're all top 10. The list above is pretty great but it has some gaping holes.

If I'm really being honest .. there are some paperweights in 82 - 84 ... but from there on up .... GET THEM ALL!

Top 6 from every year is pretty good + a few cherry picked bottom 6.

Some of my highlights would be...

Garfeld - 83, 85 & 87

Devils - 82, 84 & 86 I also liked Devils in 87 but I find it's better to watch them that year than just listen.

PR - 83, 84 & 87

SCV - 84 & 87

Suncoast - 83, 84 & 85

VK - 87

Skyriders - 87

SoA - 84

Don't forget about the 70's. Back when shows didn't have titles and themes.

From the DCI Fan Network

SCV 1974

Anaheim Kingsman 1974

Madison 1975

Blue Devils 1976

There's a host of other shows from the 70's. Check 'em out on the fan network.

Just to start with:

Garfield- 1982-85, 1987

SCV- 1981-89

BD- 1980-84, 1986

Suncoast Sound- 1983-86, 1988

Spirit of Atlanta 1980, 1983-86

More than a top 10 list? Yep. Couldn't help myself.

I'll add more in a bit.

Start with the entire Top 12 from 1984 - maybe the best 1-12 top to bottom ever!

Troopers '84 is a must have, if you can find it.

Agreed.
