Gabe92
Great job garfiel!!! I was trying to follow you while travelling but now that I am back home, I catched up with you. While the big boys are mostly done, it gets even more interesting for me to find our about the smaller corps in order to get a full picture of the drum corps scene. I am certainly interested in knowing how all the open class corps are doing compared to each other and to the world class. If you ever get to the Canadian corps, I willl provide you with numbers (for one of the corps) since you don't have access to the 990 in Canada (we do not have that in Canada to my knowledge). garfield
Pacific Crest Statement of Program Service Accomplishments (Note: PC lists the drum corps, fall educational workshops, "Corps at the Crest" drum corps show, and "Musical Productions for Youth" (in 2009). I'll list the common ones across all years.) Drum and Bugle Corps 2008: Revenue: $306,717, Expenses: $379,625 2009: Revenue: $324,140, Expenses: $408,637 2010: Revenue: $359,301, Expenses: $491,752 2011: Revenue: $368,919, Expenses: $510,135 Educational Clinics 2008: Revenue: $18,730, Expenses: $3,235 2009: Revenue: $26,070, Expenses: $20,767 (corrected to $1,747 per Stuart Pompel) 2010: Revenue: $31,390, Expenses: $2,318 2011: Revenue: $24,988, Expenses: $5,355 "Corps at the Crest" drum corps show 2008: Revenue: $39,104, Expenses: $12,354 2009: Revenue: $84,324, Expenses: $57,263 2010: Revenue: $82,022, Expenses: $58,483 2011: Revenue: $128,162, Expenses: $60,280 (Note: some of these numbers, particularly the Educational Clinics expenses, seem mis-aligned. I've emailed ED Stuart Pompel asking him to double check my interpretations and, if he corrects me, I'll update the above.) Observation: Check out the net revenue from "Corps at the Crest". They cleared nearly $68,000 from the show in 2011 and, as a TEP myself, I can say that this is a spectacular return. And even in the prior years the corps made impressive profits on its show. Observation II: And can I gush a little about the reserved growth in PC's spending on the drum corps? With, I'm sure, a burning desire to "make a mark" on the activity, it's clear that the ED and BOD recognize that fighting the desire to over-spend (or borrow against assets) above their means is in their DNA. Again, impressive. Very impressive. Edited January 4, 2013 by garfield

Fran Haring
Totally agree, Garfield... those are great numbers for PC. There are any number of businesses out there.. in any number of fields... that wish they had a balance sheet like that.
