Nicholas Villane
So...after reading through this thread, a lot of hate. A whole lot. But hey...he did it. Apparently the corps turned into a Soundsport thing for this season, and might continue to recruit more for next season as an Open Class DCI corps. They had their very first performance alongside the Crossmen last week for their "Friends and family" type event. A few Youtube clips are up too: Thanks for finding this video, interesting video like the uniforms. Looks like according to the website they are going to apply for open class in 2013 season. Good luck to them!
IDYL krnbasslst
In spite of what text my eyes may have glazed, the "Lollypops" [sic] aren't half bad. Being there, I can see this is headed in a good direction :satisfied: Isaac Edited October 27, 2016 by IDYL krnbasslst
Popular Post guardiansdbc
So...after reading through this thread, a lot of hate. A whole lot. But hey...he did it. I tried to stay away from this post, but I felt like something had to be clarified in the above statement. We've accomplished so much, and I can proudly say that it wasn't by my doing. These 50 faithful kids came out and showed the world that drum corps doesn't have to start at a nationally touring level to be successful. I didn't start a drum corps. I didn't make this happen. These faithful 50 took the leap and came together from as far as Kansas to form the Guardians. They were the ones who "did it." I'd love to thank Debbie Wilkinson for being an amazing corps volunteer as usual, Fred Morrison and the Crossmen for having the Guardians come out and perform their very first show at the Crossmen's MMX and allowing the use of their podium and instruments, Chris Magonigal and the Genesis team for bringing up the amazing G-Unit to compete against the Guardians Drumline (congrats!) and being a great representative of the activity, the Holubec and Rocka families for volunteering, Laura Dinkel for fitting the uniforms, Steve Wessels for selling us these fantastic uniforms, the Boys and Girls Club of America for partnering with us to supply us housing and join in on their bingo operations, Philip Flynn, Matthew Garrison, Michael Oreka, Christopher Montemayor, and Alycia Mendoza for teaching like madmen this weekend, and my wonderful family for everything they have put into this. There are so many more people to thank. I wish I could list them all. Just know that because of your time and effort, Guardians were able to successfully make their debut! I can't thank you all enough! The drum corps community and Drum Corps International has been very supportive of what we've accomplished so far and we look forward to growing and moving further into the right direction this season and in future years. Oh and Stu, the lollipops are delicious here. Johnathan Doerr Corps Director Edited June 19, 2013 by guardiansdbc
gcurrier
Sounded pretty good for failure to me...id be proud of those kids and what they have accomplished director included. I gave you/him credit--he has done much better than some more local to me who HAS experience in a top level corps, is well old enough and should be able to get together enough of an organization to make a real run at it, YET in years of trying, hasn't gotten as far as this "kid" has gotten...don't listen to em--leaders move beyond cynics and misplaced criticism--go get em and keep building! Cant wait to see you on the field in years to come.
skywhopper
Beyond the lack of horns, equipment and uniforms problem, let’s look at a bigger issue....is this an official organization? Has it been filed with the IRS or a local bank? Personally, I have no idea the process behind that, but there has to be some financial work done before the organization can start pulling in members, right? It takes a hundred bucks or so in corporate filing fees, that's about it.
skywhopper
Oh and Stu, the lollipops are delicious here. Congratulations on all your successes so far, and good luck as the Guardians move forward! Can't wait to see them in DCI Finals in 2035!
fsubone
Those look quite a lot like Cedar Park's band uniforms. Were these purchased from them, or are they borrowed for the summer? It's a good look, but I recognized them from watching BOA over the years.

fsubone
i believe they were purchased from them. Makes sense. I knew those looked familiar. Good that they were able to purchase used uniforms to save money, instead of spending a ton of money for new ones. Financially responsible corps it would seem
