Most interesting about the announcement video...

Phantom Regiment moving to Adams horns?

The Adams website, Marching News says yes: (actually, after re-reading it really doesn't say "brass" so I dunno.)

In part:

Pearl/Adams and The Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps are proud to announce the start of a new partnership commencing with the 2013 Drum Corps International season. With leagues of fans from all generations, and a tradition of innovative design and superb musicianship, Phantom Regiment epitomizes the Drum Corps activity. A perennial DCI Finalist, the Corps has twice been named DCI World Champions (1996, 2008) and is the 3-time recipient of the Fred Sanford High Percussion Trophy. Phantom Regiment's impressive Percussion Section, matched with their all-time famous Brass and Color Guard presence has made them one of the strongest and most popular Drum Corps in modern times.

Beginning with their audition camps for the 2013 Membership, the Phantom Regiment will rely on Pearl/Adams for all of their Battery Percussion, Hardware, World Percussion, and Concert Percussion needs. "Pearl/Adams is incredibly proud to be partnered with the Phantom Regiment organization," shares Dan Twiford, Marching Percussion Marketing Manager for Pearl, "They have always exemplified class in the Drum Corps community, and Pearl/Adams products will perfectly compliment what they do as an organization – top quality competitive performances and great educational programs for today's and tomorrow's performers".

Doubt anyone will jump soon. Hope the quality of horns is more consistant than thier drums.

Adams concert horns are un-#######-real. Beyond good, just insanely expensive. They make Kanstul look like cheap chinese knockoffs.

If anyone didn't jump on this, they would be stupid... unless they were charging retail. :)

If their marching horns are as good as their concert horns, all the more complimented by a fantastic hornline :thumbup:/>

Being distributed by a percussion company, does this mean that the brass line will be able to play in time with the drumline?

Today I actually had a chance to play on a full range of John Packer horns.

Was extremely surprised at how great the horns were for the price.

These are horns made in China, basically well-guided Jinbao horns.

I came away convinced that US and European manufacturing for all but the most top of the line professional instruments is pretty much pointless.

The dilemma here is which is better.... fantastic horns available to every fantastic kid, or average horns available to every average kid?

I'm really starting to lean towards the average kid.... get as many kids out there playing as possible.
