dannyboy
Kilties -- performing in 3 DCI shows this season in addition to the usual DCA shows and exhibitions (a blast)at MACBDA shows. All-age, weekend only. Quite a few HS/College age, so junior corps kids fit in nicely. They have "Kamp" THIS WEEKEND. Gimore Middle School in Racine, WI. Members come from as far as the Detroit area so Northern Ohio and Southern Michiganders might be able to hook rides. Scott Stewart (director of Madison Scouts for 30 years) is the Executive Director. corpsband
While it's sad to see a corps go inactive, it seems this is a far cry from folding. Hopefully the season off will allow them the time and space to re-emerge on a sounder footing. Hope to see Gmen back in 2014.
elnino2k10
Seeing on the Blue Stars Site that a number of spots are open in each section as of right now with camps in Indianapolis. Hoping the best for the GLASSMEN.
Phirefenix
Thank you to the Glassmen BoD for making a smart decision. It's still a painful loss for this summer, however I look forward to enjoying many more in the future.
kickhaltsforlife
Sad but glad they made the right decision here. Get things financially in shape. And don't come back BEFORE that either. We need the Glassmen. We need every corps out there. And it is time ALL the corps start working together to figure out ways to make DCI AS A WHOLE more financially strong. And leave the egos at home.
bill
This was just posted by Erin Carr, one of the Glassmen Alumni Association board members, on the GAA Facebook group: If you know of ANY openings in ANY corps, whether it be DCI World Class, DCI Open Class, DCA Open Class, DCA Class A, please post it here and/or message me so I can forward that info on to the people that need it most now. The Kilties will be finalizing positions during the two camps (Jan. 5-6/Jan. 26-27) this month. Information along with a FAQ section about the corps can be found at The Kilties website located HERE. Edited to add this note: The Kilties historically do not have audition, registration and/or camp fees. FAQ section at the website offers a lot of upfront information. Dan Detweiler
So sad to hear this. As stated previously, I commend the board at Glassmen for taking the responsible steps to insure the well being of the organization. I am sure that all organizations, both DCI and DCA, will do what is neccessary to give all of the students that had committed to Glassmen the best opportunity possible to march this upcomming season. We all wish you the best luck in the world as the Glassmen reorganize and return to the competative field better than ever. Dan
JimF-LowBari
Sad to hear this and hope the year off can help with the problems. Good luck to the BoD as they work thru this. But... if anyone thinks corps are not dealing with a world that makes it harder and harder for the activity to exist please think again. Just sick of people posting that corps go under because of "bad management" or the like without knowing how much harder it is to survive in todays world. And IIRC this corps has been around for about 50 years counting previous names.

Bushwackers
Dear Glassmen We are saddened to hear about your financial situation and the decision you have made to ultimately save the organization and to keep on providing the tradition of the Glassmen. We have been there and know the struggle you are about to embark on in rebuilding your infrastructure financially so as to continue to give experiences to your members. The Bushwackers have spots open as it is still early for us to finalize numbers. If you are local and are interested in continuing to march this season, please feel welcomed and reach out to us. We are rebuilding after our own financial struggle and have come out ready to field a fantastic drum corps this summer. We have set up a membership pop-up for anyone interested in being part of the change. Best of luck Glassmen BUSH
