Preseason Performances

Recommended Posts

When one is born, one begins one's first year which ends on one's first birthday; the day after begins one's second year.

The corps was founded in1934. Last night's concert, the beefsteak dinner tonite, the Mass tomorrow begin the 80th year which will end in 2014 probably with a big get together as the 75th had.

The WSS season in '09 completed the 75th year as will the first contest of the 2014 season start completing the 80th year; think of it as a summer long birthday party.

Yup, C2 is doing what Cadets previously did in '89 and they announced it last summer.

Ah ok must have missed that. Thanks!

Carolina Crown 2013 production E = mc2

Definitely a pleasent well done show. Drill can not be adequately assessed from this camera view but the music can be best appreciated considering they are doing drill and this most difficult tonguing.

Can't help noticing some parallels to BD 2012's show design.

Battery does not march well at all even for the simple side to side movements seen here.

Singers are superlative, but the counting should make them be considered drum majors, ha, ha. Reminds me of the old SCV trick of having the soloist stand at the point where the next formation was to begin, etc.

new unis may fit well with this style drill

At least 3 places where they could have been making the Crown.

Narration in the ballad has not been heard at any ensemble rehearsals (or the preview show) since this video was taken. My guess is the staff thought it needed to be altered. Will it reappear by their first show? TIme will tell! Love this time of year!

Just watched the Crown run through again....

Musically, it's wonderful and the narration provides a nice thread woven throughout the show. Brass performing at such an amazing level in hmm... June. Visually, it seems less dramatic than last year with the big powerful drill moments but I noticed that with the Cadet's run through also. It seems the direction is more "stock drill" and staging versus the kaliediscopic drills of the past. They will take California by storm..

Crossmen were supposed to perform their full show yesterday, but rain prevented that. Battery and hornline did a standstill, but they sound pretty good, IMO. Microphone quality aside.
