bobjective
I think that whether cavaliers or scouts end up in front of the other by August. As an all make corps. brotherhood, and with me being a scout alum, I am ecstatic that both all make corps are good, solid drum corps! DCI needs both the Cavaliers and the Scouts to do well. Both of these corps are two long storied brotherhoods with deep history and tradition. We may be tough competitors on the field, but we are our brothers keepers!

NeoCervantes II
I was going to start this off but y'all beat me to it. RE: The speculation over which team is going to improve most before Minneapolis, utilizing their about equal upcoming days off from competitions. Subjective opinions aside, just going by the trend lines, recap detail numbers and generally held common wisdom, the Cavies look like they have a clear advantage - not bullet-proof but significantly better odds. It is generally recognized in this activity that it is substantially easier to water down, simplify and clean a show that has proven to be too difficult than it is to take an already achieved and cleaned show and add significantly more substance and difficulty to the book. I've had significant personal experience with this in winter guard and my friends with corps staff experience tell me the same thing. Madison has been getting a lot of recap scores with red warning lights that their show doesn't have enough meat. In many sub-captions their achievement scores aolmost and sometimes do match their content scores, which means a lot of judges have been telling them there's not much milk left in the cow. And more than once I've seen their achievement score higher than their content score, which translates as, "Your kids are better than the show you've given them." This is not an enviable position to be in. The Cavies, on the other hand, came out of the starting gate with a very thick and difficult book and their recap scores reflected it, often beating Madison's score on content but trailing way behind in achievement. But performance and training can be improved by relatively direct means and improving achievement also tends to improve content scores when the depth of content becomes more readable. If the content is too shallow improving performance only makes that clearer, thus the frequent claim in these blogs that all Scouts have to do is clean more to raise their scores looks increasingly like implausible wishful thinking. Great post! It had been cool to see the sub captions being used better and better to recognize these things in the past couple seasons. jjeffeory
Frankly I think Phantom and Bloo should be watching their backs as these two corps are BOTH on the move this year!
THeShadeOfNight
Frankly I think Phantom and Bloo should be watching their backs as these two corps are BOTH on the move this year! I will be incredibly impressed if Cavies or Madison pass the aforementioned corps. Phantom and Bloo are very much on their A-game this year, so passing them would be quite a feat.

dcibrando
It's getting ridiculous trying to follow this debate in multiple threads. Can the bloggers in "Michigan City", "Cavies Struggles", "Whitewater", etc. duke it out on the same page? I do not like how cluttered these boards are becoming with a subject for every show
The Other Mike
I do not like how cluttered these boards are becoming with a subject for every show I hate the names given to each thread about a show. The person that started that several years back should be banished beyond ( no pun intended )
baja
Darn it, I mean "all male"!!!! I like the "all boy battle" LOL BTW could the Cavies and Scouts be called "Boy Bands"? Back on topic it is a great rivalry, but I see Madison coming out on top.
bobjective
I don't like the fact that we even use the word "band" in discussing drum corps at all. But, I guess it can be supported given the fact that they did away with g bugles. I am just happy that i marched in the era that g bugles were used. Those bugles brought a nostalgia to the activity that b flat horns do not.
