Conquistadors Launch Horn Donation Drive

Recommended Posts

The Conquistadors All Age Drum & Bugle Corps has officially announced a new donation drive to assist us in purchasing a set of horns. The corps has partnered with crowdvance.com to assist us in securing donations. The website rewards donators for their contributions by allowing them to pick free gifts.

With the majority of the funding in place, we are still about $1,700 short. We are asking for help from our supporters to get us to our goal so we can write the check and pick up the bugles! Every little bit helps and donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated. All donors will receive recognition on our website as an additional act of gratitude.

To donate please click here: http://www.crowdvance.com/fundraiser/conquistadors-horn-drive/

The donation period ends on September 8th.

The Conquistadors Performing Arts Association, Inc. is a Non-Profit Corporation registered in the State of New York. More information about the group can be found on our website: www.conquistadors.webs.com

How is the marching band doing?

We ended up taking another route. We are focusing on the drum line to make sure it is solid. It ended up making more sense to just work on getting bugles because although the band programs are very supportive, they do not want students bringing school instruments and we don't want to invest in band instruments when we can use the funds for bugles.

Marching band seems to be endangered in this area. The band I was writing for the last 2 seasons is ready to pull the plug and several others have dropped. Honestly the majority of the interest so far has come from either Mansfield Alumni or children of old Southern Tier Grenadiers, Mello-Dears, and Barons of Stuben. We have to market ourselves very carefully as an educational opportunity because drum corps is such a foreign thing anymore in the area and even was when the Brigadiers were still fielding and they were only an hour north.

We all need to do more to support new corps. It really is an achievement to get a group going. I will be mailing a donation check for the horn fund!
