jasgre2000
Return of G bugles so I can hear and feel the sound of the horn line and the music. No more electronics. No more dancing, Pilate's, yoga horn lines....that's what the color guard is for. No more instrument or sticks thrown down at the side of your body, shoulder in my direction, head up and legs apart as the universal band geek sign of bad ### and squatting like you need to go and right now. I wanted to get a thread and 1 sentence to get clarity of as to what people are wanting to change. Hope you will participate. Someone needs to go back to grammar school. :tongue:/> Edited August 7, 2013 by jasgre2000
jasgre2000
"All auditory (sound) contributions to the show shall be generated by acoustic percussion instruments, bell-front valved brass, or voice; additionally, amplification shall be applied only to grounded front ensemble instruments or persons singing/speaking solos or playing solos on rules-allowed instruments." (no more synth support, no voice overs, no synthetically generated sound samples, etc. For me, this would restore the quality of sound that makes this activity so incredibly powerful and distinct.) 100% agree

Jeff Ream
weight the performance captions like WGI percussion so performance trumps book

Tekneek
Fan and alumni, that are not on the payroll or board of any corps, should be represented on the DCI boards and be able to have input and votes regarding business goals and competition rules. drumcat
All copyrighted material must be cleared with all rights by Finals the year BEFORE it is played and cannot require a master use license.
bobchilds
Introduce rules that promote more parity between corps so that it isn't so predictable every year. Sounds a little like a socialist redistribution of "wealth" model. So do what? Restrict corps hopping? Impose residency requirements? Assign staff and designers to different corps? bobchilds
Maybe it was the actual bugles I played, but we played just fine on them. In the right hands, the instrument performed great. I think Star played on bugles up until 90 or 91? Can someone confirm? There were some amazing sounds on those instruments .... they weren't all pieces of crap. And just curious .... did you ever get to hear some of the great groups of the 80's and 90's that played on G bugles? Not being condescending, just asking ... DCI didn't allow non-G horns until 2000. So, Star was on Gs as long as they were in DCI (although they did switch to concert instruments when they did Brass Theater and Blast).
