What's the furthest a DCI Champ fell after winning?

Recommended Posts

Fortunately there are fewer corps in World Class today, so the fall doesn't have quite as many stories. You might even be able to survive a fall to the bottom :)

Curious....what's the furthest a DCI Champion fell from winning the previous year?

The real question you should ask is what is the SECOND furthest fall from the previous year?

Then you should ask what is the greatest RISE from one year to the championship?

Madison Scouts were on quite the roller coaster in the late 80s...

1987 - 6th

1988 - 1st

1989 - 7th

(Dis)honorable mention: The 2000 Blue Knights finished 6th, with a score of 92.00. The 2001 Blue Knights didn't make Finals. I'm not sure another corps from the modern era has scored/placed so high one year and missed Finals the next.

Cadets 2006 was chock-full of schadenfreude for people who hated Cadets 2005.

I actually liked 2006's show design better than 2005. The execution/performance level was nowhere close, of course, but I thought the overall concept and design were better.

Phantom went from 1st in 2008 to 9th in 2009

This is the correct answer.

I agree. I just wish they hadn't taken out the History Repeating intro.

That was a really cool part. With the intro from the year before, plus the singing was an awesome intro. I wonder if it got cut because of time problems, or because judges said it didn't work?
